My first e-book published, “Bruised on the Inside–How to Become a Domestic Violence Survivor” had permission from The Pixel Project, Angela Shelton and Missouri EDU to quote from their sites to add important information on domestic violence whether it be man, woman or child.

When the e-book was published, a copy was sent to the international Pixel Project team and shared with.

The Pixel Project is a worldwide "grassroots" activist and volunteer group that help educate the public via the web about the dangers of domestic violence and bring huge awareness to the topic.

Not long afterward, their team wrote to me back and congratulated me on the e-book and told me that they had posted the press release for the book on their site.

AB RockWear Donates Motorcycle Leathers to Katelynn Stinnett National Memorial Run June, 2010

AB RockWear gladly donates motorcycle leather vests, Harley Davidson Denim Shirt and Du Rags to be raffled off for money to help in this cause.

The Story
On December 3, 2008, 2-year old Katelynn Stinnett died of injuries she suffered when she was sexually abused and beaten by her 18 year old babysitter. Thousands of bikers across the nation grieved for the loss of this baby girl. They took up a collection and paid for her burial and her headstone which is inscribed with a poem written especially for her, by a biker.
"When I look down and hear the pipes roar,
I will spread my wings and with you will soar"
We vowed not to forget Katelynn and the thousands of children who suffer from child abuse every year. Consequently, we decided to hold a nation wide event each year in honor of Katelynn, and to raise money to help local child abuse prevention agencies.

This national motorycle run started last year and will be done yearly in June.

The BIG hair in Rock

Back in the day of the 80's Hair band Rock, that is all we saw from Van Halen, Aerosmith, ACDC, RATT, Poison, Motely Crue and it wasn't just for the guy rock bands, it was for the female bands and lead rockers, too.

Stevie Nicks' hair was well known for it's "bigness" and style, Ann and Nancy Wilson, Lita Ford...the list goes on.

And, yet, today, some almost 30 years later, long hair, "big hair" is still seen and liked on stage on the performers.

Jennifer Batten, lead female guitarist for Michael Jackson's last tours, has always worn the long, platinum hair that rocks while she does playing her wild guitars.

It's a look that is associated with rock and the rock style.

In recent years, in order to acheive longer, fuller hair styles, hair extensions have been a popular item.

Some are made with real human hair, others are synthetic. Coming in many different colors, lengths, straight, curly, crimped, feathers added for more color or even platinum zebra stripes, they have become a fun addition to add to your own hair.

Hair extensions usually come in small strips and in order to attach them to your own hair, there are little "combs" that open and close to place them in under your own hair, so that it all combines together.

Some like a full head of extensions to make it full all over and possibly a different color than their original. While others, like myself, like to wear a small strand of hair extension so that it adds mainly more color than volume.

Either way, it's the perfect and fun accessory to add to make that rock look complete.

Rockin' Cowboy Hats

Kid Rock has always been sportin' the rocker cowboy hats as well as Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi and many more.

There are some WILD looking ones and varie in colors and designs.

I've always been a big fan of the rock band cowboy hats and have a few of my own.

Different colors, different designs, different looks that just happen to accentuate the rock look and are fun.

Michelle Smith of Amercian Thunder is a big fan of all cowboy hats and wears them often.

American Idol Rocker Contestants

There have been atleast one rocker contestant in each American Idol Season. In the first season with Kelly Clarkson was Nikki McKibbin and Ryan Starr. Both very unique in their style and look. Nikki had the bright hair and short tops and Ryan had the long, dark hair and the torn look in most of her outfits while performing.

For awhile, after American Idol, Ryan actually went into her own designing of clothing.

Another one that sticks out to me is Constantine Maroulis. He came in 6th in American Idol Season 4. I saw Constantine perform post American Idol with his band "Pray for the Soul of Betty" in Denver, CO at the Gothic Theatre. Very entertaining performance.

And, another favorite of mine, Amanda Overmyer in American Idol Season 7. Her Janis Joplin like vocals just blew me away. I not only loved her talent, but her style, as well.

Criticized for having "skunk hair" or "Lily Munster" hair because of Amanda's dark hair with white chunks, I liked it. Although different, it made who she is and that's a free spirited person that's confident about her looks and should be.

That's the great thing about "rock style" appearances in clothing, hair, jewelry, shoes,,,...etc. You can wear what you feel is most comfortable for you without being risque' and having fun doing it.

My hat goes off to the young AND older people that do wear the clothing, design it and show it proudly!

DJ Ashba Signature Series

I met DJ Ashba last year while he was touring with SIXX AM, Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx's band based on his book "Heroin Diaries". This was in Cruefest 2008.

DJ Ashba is co-founder of SIXX AM and the band Beautiful Creatures. Although, DJ Ashba appears "dark", his nature is not.

Very friendly guy who walks out into the audience at their concerts and randomly talks to people very sincerely.

It's been released recently that he will be Guns N Roses lead axeman.

That will be a great combination of the two and well thought out.

I, personally, like DJ Ashba's looks, his clothing, dark hair..etc. He also has a Signature Clothing Series out as well as his former bandmates in Motley Crue.

Mostly designed and signed T-shirts are in the collection. Plus, his designed guitars!! AMAZING! (one pictured to the left)

Motorcycle Leathers, Chains, Skull Caps

Since the age of 7 yrs old, I've been a major fan of motorcycles. Big ones! My older brother always had one despite my parent's disliking and he put me on the back of his large motorcycle at a young age and I was hooked....forever! I love the freedom that one feels while riding on the seat, be it driver or passenger, with riding especially on a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Through the years and wherever life took me, motorcycles were always a part of it. I own one myself and love to ride.

And, because of that, when riding motorcycles, there is riding gear that's needed. Thick clothing, leather attire.

I've been selling motorcycle leathers and accessories such as skull caps, chains and belts, for awhile now and love it. Great quality leather lined with silky lining not only looks great on, but feels great, also.

Hart and Huntington

Carey Hart of Hart and Huntington has had a big influence on my vision of designs.

That sounds somewhat silly and school-girl-crush like, but it's not about that. It's about the persona that Carey brings bout.

I, personally, love motorcycles and racing. Carey Hart has been a motorcross competitor for years. He made his mark in 2000's "Gravity Games" in which he did an amazing backflip on his MTX bike in mid air.

I'm also a fan of his ex-wife, Pink. An artist that has sold many CD's and keeps putting out great tunes all the time.

When I was in Las Vegas last November for the first time and went to The Hard Rock Hotel, looking at all the glass cases of memoriabilia from rock music's past/present legends, I heard some amazing music being played within the Hard Rock Hotel's studio, Wasted Space.

Being a music scout and music lover, I peeked my head in the door, showed my business card and was surprisingly let in graciously and watched a private rehearsal of the great cover band, Sin City Sinners. It was there at the Hard Rock that I got the idea of airbrushing tattoos onto distressed jeans.

Later on, I found out that Carey Hart now owns Wasted Space Studios and has his own clothing line in Hart and Huntington.

Skinny Distressed/Destroyed Jeans

The prices on the popular skinny distressed or destroyed jeans in stores or online shopping are outrageous! It almost makes me mad to see the prices on them go from anywhere from $60 (on sale) to up to $230. But, that's what happens when clothing becomes popular, celebrities are seen in them and everyone wants a pair. Women and men.

I've loved distressed jeans since the 80's. I remember I had a pair of white jeans that I slit holes in all down the front legs and all down the back legs. I saw a pair in a Great White music video and loved them, so I wanted to copy them. I wore those pair OUT!

There are many articles out there and videos that will show you how to distress your own jeans and many do. They'll tell you to use sand paper, cheese graters, coffee, pour bleach right onto them.....yeah, that's one way. But, speaking from experience and a few ruined pair of good jeans, I found out what doesn't work in distressing or destroying jeans.

If you use hard grit sandpaper on your jeans in areas that you want distressed, you will end up with a very thin pair of jeans that will rip the minute you bend your knees. Same with graters.

There are the popular "splattered" jeans where it looks as if someone took a bleach bottle and just sprinkled it all over the pair. The same thing happens when you pour bleach directly on jeans. It makes the denim material alot thinner in those areas and you won't be able to wear them for long.

It took me awhile to find the best way to not thin the denim while distressing and even destroying some of the jeans that I've designed. I don't use sandpaper, or graters or coffee or pour bleach directly on the jeans because all it took was for me to do that once and then have someone wear them and see that the material was so worn out that they tore. I spoke with fashion designers and came acrossed a product that will "bleach" out the color without wearing out the material. I use it faithfully now in designing the jeans because the last thing I'd want is for someone to wear them once or twice and the destroyed jeans get totally destroyed.

For the holes, I don't use any rubbing material on the jeans to make the holes and shredded areas. Again, it took me awhile and a few jeans to see that that wasn't gonna work especially after washing.

And, I don't believe in charging $60-$230 per pair! How I design the jeans from start to finish and then airbrushing them, does not even come close to those prices.

I can show you how to get the look as the expensive jeans that are distressed, destroyed and then airbrushed and charging under $20 for each. Same look, same fun, but without the outrageous prices in these days of slow economy.

Vinyl Leggings

When I first saw Lady Gaga perform, I wasn't quite sure what genre she was. She's quite the unique artist and because of that, she's becoming more and more popular.

Not only is her talent signature, but her style, as well.

The platinum wig, the eye makeup and her clothes.

Let's face it, she has got some GREAT legs and she is getting to be known by her different types of leggings. In all colors and material.

"Punk rock" has really brough out the black vinyl leggings. My first reaction to these were "OH! Spandex is back"..:), but vinyl pleather leggings are far from the look of spandex or SPANX (even though...I've got to admit that SPANX is thee greatest thing to be made for "under" the clothes. Men even wear them..!),. I took a closer look at the black vinyl leggings and really started to like them.

If you have great legs and you wear a pair of them, all that is needed is a tunic top, a babydoll dress or just rockin' out with some serious belts and vinyl tops to match works REALLY well!

They especially look great with black patent leather heel boots or a knock out pair of stilettos.

ABROCKWEAR has some black vinyl leggings in the inventory and I love the feel of them, they're not uncomfortable at all and they're just FUN!!

We'll be seeing more and more of leggings to come.

Airbrushing Tattoos on distressed denims

I've been a freelance makeup artist for over a year now. I studied with Elitepro and still take classes with them to update my knowledge in new products and applications.

I decided to do airbrush makeup because with today's high definition cameras, TV's..taking pictures of models will end up showing the tiniest spot, flaw...on the face. Many celebrities started doing airbrushed makeup because of that. And, after trying the new airbrush foundations with Luminess, Temptu, OC, Dinair, I quickly decided what I liked the best in these products.

I also started purchasing the needed equipment to do appropriate airbrushing makeup. I started out with the very small compressors and spray guns and eventually as my airbrushing started to expand into temporary tattoos (with actual tattoo ink..GORGEOUS! Colors are amazing and they last up to 14 days!), body art such as that which was shown on 2008's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Every model in that edition was "wearing" a painted on bathing suit. Whether it was hand painted (taking 14 hours to apply) or airbrushed (much quicker). Looking at those pictures, you seriously could NOT tell that they were not wearing the real bathing suit.

I also got into sunless tanning. I love to tan, always have. But, the sun and indoor tanning salons are brutal on the skin. Completely dries out the skin's natural moisture and wrinkles, age spots, develop. Dermatologists will tell you that sunless tanning is far better in getting the color that you want. I researched the tanning solutions and I use popular brands with natural ingredients, moisturizers, bronzers and glimmers that will help extend the sunless tanning for more than 5 days and will not orange. I love Mystic Tan. That seems to go on evenly for every skin type; fair, medium, dark complexions and lasts.

So, with each area of airbrushing I went into, I got the equipment needed for all. For the sunless tanning I have an HVLP spraying system that sprays evenly and very quickly. I also have a tanning tent that I can transport with me to do the spraying. Many a body builder will get sprayed up to 5 times before a competition to perfect the color they like to acheive. That's not necessary for someone that just wants a healthy base color.

My airbrush equipment now consists of:

5 air compressors ranging from 55psi to the ones that professional house painters use to spray homes. I also have several different spray guns including Mastercraft, Dinair, PAASCHE, Iwata and more. For each area of airbrushing, different compressors are used as well as the correct spray gun.

Paint mediums are different. I can't use the same medium on the skin and face as I would for fabric. With airbrushing on fabric, there is a special paint that is used, a heating application used after spraying to set in the design. I also took classes on airbrushing on fabrics to learn this process. It's much different than the body art airbrushing, makeup and temporary tattoos.

There are craft cans of "airbrush paint" for clothing in Hobby stores. I've used those out of curiousity and I wouldn't suggest them to anyone because they single spray out quickly, the paint is hard as can be and not natural looking. It sets in like lead..:)

The designs I use on the distressed jeans are the tattoos that I do on people for the temporary tats. There are Tribal designs (as the one above), very colorful ones likened to what Ed Hardy's designs are, flames such as motorcycle flames and more feminine ones as in flowers and butterflies.

With distressed jeans, some holes and airbrushed tats on them, it give the "rock" look that I love and I hope others do as well.

This is a fun thing that started last November after a trip to las Vegas and the Hard Rock Hotel. I'm both an A&R Music Scout and a freelance makeup artist. So, there's two things that I love the most and that's ROCK music and art in makeup.

I airbrush makeup, temporary tattoos, body art and sunless tanning. While in Las Vegas, I saw a pair of jeans that were beautifully airbrushed.

Not the popular type of Urban airbrushing or celebrity faces, it was a mural-like design down both legs.

Since I already had all the compressors, spray guns and medium to do this, I decided to combine distressed jeans (another thing that I love from the '80's) and my own tattoo designs that I'd airbrush onto the jeans.

I researched, took classes on the spraying on clothes...which paints to use, how to set in the design with heating application and a special way of distressing. Anyone can bleach and put holes in their jeans. It was a learning technique for me that, at first, I definetly had some "practice" jeans to practice on and come to know what was the best process for me and for others in wearing it and having the distressed look remain along with the design.

I also love alot of belts. Wide ones, skinny ones, detailed ones and many different chains. Single chains, wallet chains and triple chains of all lengths. Personally, I love to accessorize in my clothing and have added these accessories along to the designed wear.

That's not all....I also sell motorcycle leathers for less than retail prices including fringed halters for ladies and shin guards, tattoo shirts, rock T-shirts, skull caps, Harley Davidson shirts, Ed Hardy wear, jewelry, Victoria Secret lotions AND...much more.

This is all about having fun with clothing, rockin' them up and not having to pay a heavy price for them. I made the designed wear with all of that in mind and of course, the low economy.
